  • Back To School Fair 2010
    MARYVILLE, Mo. – As the end of a school year arrived the planning for the start of a new one begun. With tough economic times continuing for so many, assistance is needed for the basic supplies such as notebooks, pencils and backpacks. For the fourth year now, Northwest Missouri Cellular will once again be supporting Community Services’ Back to School Fair to provide these much needed items to children in Atchison, Holt, Nodaway, Worth and Gentry counties. A recent donation of $1,500 was made to the organization. This program is an annual event that assists low-income families by providing education on resources available to them and backpacks filled with school supplies for the children that participate. Additionally, other services such as haircuts, immunizations, dental products and personal hygiene products are also offered in many locations. Read More..

  • Bowl for Kids Sake
    MARYVILLE, Mo. - The third annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake – which will benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nodaway Country program – will take place Friday, April 16 and Sunday, April 18 at Bearcat Lanes in Maryville. Friday night will feature cosmic bowling during two sessions, 6 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday is family day, with a session at 1 p.m. A great opportunity for Bigs and Littles to contend in friendly bowling competition, Bowl for Kids’ Sake is the signature event for the local organization to help raise funds and recruit new volunteers. Anyone can enter a team, friends, family members or local businesses, which is composed of six players. Fun for all ages and experience levels, bowlers will enjoy free pizza, drinks and great prizes.
